Eugene Mak
Eugene has close to 30 years of experience in investment banking, private investment management and actuarial & insurance consulting in Asia.
Since September 2020, Eugene has been serving as strategic advisor to AIA Group Office on mergers & acquisitions, strategic partnerships and corporate development matters.
Prior to AIA, Eugene was Managing Director with Natixis Asia Limited, Investment Banking arm of France’s second largest bank, BPCE. Eugene led the structuring and distribution of derivatives, reinsurance and convertible instruments manufactured by the Bank to its insurance company client base for the purpose of enhancing asset liability matching and balance sheet management.
Earlier in his career, Eugene was Executive Director for the Asia Institutional Equities Division of Morgan Stanley and Director and Head of Insurance Coverage for HSBC Capital Markets.
Eugene is a Fellow of Institute of Actuaries, UK and graduated in Actuarial Science from the London School of Economics.
K.C. Ho
KC has diverse experience in multi-country insurance operations with a core expertise in aligning product propositions with distribution channels and target markets with a strong commitment to fair customer treatment.
KC spent over 8 years at HSBC Insurance and responsible for driving product propositions in Asia. KC developed the first HNW universal life product in Asia for HSBC and developed product governance standards for the Asian operations. KC led insurance product proposition approval for 26 markets within HSBC.
Prior to HSBC KC was with Sun Life for 6 years. He led the distribution integration between Sun Life and CMG and led the product and marketing departments.
Earlier in his career KC spent over 6 years with Manulife. He designed, priced and implemented all start-up products for the first ever foreign insurance JV with Manulife China. KC was also with AIA for 2 years.
KC is a Fellow of Society of Actuaries, US and graduated with first class honors in Mathematics from Oxford University.
Jackson Poon
Jackson has over 30 years of experience in banking, insurance and finance with broad international exposure. He is highly skilled in IT and Operations with a proven track record in digital transformation delivery.
Since Jun 2020, Jackson was CIO and Head of Transformation for Hang Seng Indexes Co Ltd (“HSI”). He led and implemented an entity-wide program to reform HSI into a ‘Data & Tech’ company through system and data platforms transformation. He also built technical partnership with leading index providers like NASDAQ and Wilshire.
Prior to HSI, Jackson was Global and ASP CIO for HSBC/Hang Seng Insurance. He provided technology leadership and supported the Insurance businesses in UK, France, Mexico, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, China and India. Jackson managed 1200+ FTEs and had resource responsibilities of over USD80M p.a.
Earlier in his career, Jackson was Country CIO for HSBC Japan. He was responsible for the launch of HSBC Premier Banking Service in 2008 and alignment of Japan IT with HSBC Group IT mandates and framework.
David Adams
David is a seasoned insurance professional, with over 20 years’ experience as insurance and retirement schemes legal head in Hong Kong and internationally. David’s core experience is managing and advising on a broad range of insurance issues including sales and distribution; and insurance regulation and supervision.
Recently, David was Global Head of Legal, HSBC Group Insurance and Deputy General Counsel, HSBC Wealth & Personal Banking. His duties included managing legal direct reports in Hong Kong and China, and supervision and oversight of legal advice across 10 insurance manufacturing markets and 33 insurance distribution markets.
Previously, David was Head of HSBC Insurance Hong Kong’s legal team and Senior Legal Counsel, Legal Head for Retirement Schemes/Pensions.
David is currently Chairperson of the Hong Kong Law Society’s Insurance Law Committee.
David obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto. David is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
Jessica Jook
Jessica has over 15 years of direct investment and 10 years of senior corporate executive experience.
Recently, Jessica was Chief Strategy Officer of Canvest Environmental Protection Group Company Limited, responsible for pre-IPO fund raising, listing, investor relations and family office investments.
Previously, Jessica was Executive Director at Crosby Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited, responsible for investment and shareholder reporting.
In addition to her professional roles, Jessica is actively involved in public service, volunteering as a committee member of various Hong Kong government funding schemes.
Jessica holds a BBA degree in Finance, Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Science in Information System Management from the University of Hong Kong and Science Technology, and an Executive MBA from the City University of Hong Kong. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
